New Leadership Team at CAEFS

7/18/2025

On April 1, 2025, CAEFS’ Executive Director Emilie Coyle was officially joined by Nyki Kish in the role.

Board Chair Kelly Potvin offers that “This transition represents a wonderful example of feminist leadership and aligns with our organization’s values. By implementing a shared leadership structure, we are:

· Embracing the principles of power-sharing and collaborative decision-making
· Leveraging the complementary strengths and experiences of both leaders
· Ensuring continuity and longevity in our critical work for criminalized women, and gender-diverse people”

Our co-Executive Director model recognizes our intersectional feminist commitments, and demonstrates to others across Canada’s prison abolition, human rights, feminist sectors, and more, that working from models of shared responsibility, meaningful inclusion of lived experience, and community grounded leadership are possible.
