CAEFS memorial bursaries support former and currently incarcerated women and gender-diverse people in reaching their education and employment goals.

Who can apply?
You application will be considered if you meet all the following criteria:
- You live in Canada.
- You are a woman or gender-diverse person.
- You have been or are currently incarcerated.
- You have an education or employment goal that this bursary would support you to achieve.
- You have not received a CAEFS bursary in the past 3 years
How much is the bursary for?
Bursaries are $750 each.
When is the deadline to apply?
Applications must be received no later than July 6th, 2026

You can call to complete the application over the phone by calling 1-800-637-4606 on Tuesdays between: 3:00 – 5:00pm AST / 2:00 – 4:00pm EST / 12:00 – 2:00pm MST / 11:00am – 1:00pm PST
How will my application be chosen?
Applications will be reviewed to ensure that they meet the eligibility guidelines. Once an application is deemed eligible, it will be entered into a draw with all other eligible applications from that region.
How many bursaries are available?
We will be distributing up to 3 bursaries is most regions, except for the Prairies where we will be distributing up to 4 bursaries. The number of bursaries distributed will depend on the availability of funds.
When will I know if my bursary application was successful?
All applicants will be notified if their bursary application was successful or not in August by email or mail, depending on how the application was received.
If my application is successful, when and how will I receive my bursary?
Successful applications will receive their bursary by mail by cheque, in August 2026. If your mailing address changes after you submit your application, please email [email protected] to let us know or call us at 1-800-637-4606.
