Volunteer Opportunity: Join Our Regional Advocacy Team
6/9/2022CAEFS is looking for volunteers to join our regional advocacy team! As part of our regional advocacy teams, you will help to uphold the rights of criminalized women and gender diverse people in federal prisons.
We are currently looking for volunteers to join us in two different capacities:
Answering our advocacy phone lines
Overview: Answer advocacy-related phone calls from federally incarcerated women and gender-diverse people. Document callers’ concerns and liaise with the Director of Advocacy and Systems Change. Training provided, along with ongoing professional development
Time commitment: 4 hours / week .
Location: This is a remote volunteer position. Applicants from anywhere in Canada are encouraged to apply.
Attending in-person advocacy visits
Overview: Attend in-person advocacy visits at the federal prison designated for women in your region. Meet with people incarcerated there, documenting concerns and providing support, as needed. Advocates will also work closely with the the Director of Advocacy and Systems change to liaise these concerns to prison management via monthly meetings. Training provided, along with ongoing professional development
Time commitment: 2 days / month. Must be available during weekday working hours.
Location: We are currently looking for volunteers located within driving distance of Abbotsford, British Columbia).
